Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a garden to do this course?

You do not need a garden to benefit from this course. Ideally, having access to a public garden or park or someone else's garden would be great. I provide many photos you can use for inspiration. You can also refer to garden books and magazines and your own photos.

What can I expect if I sign up during the initial launch versus later on?

If you join during the first offering of Garden Threads, you’ll receive some additional live support to help you settle into the course and build community:

During the initial launch:

  • Closing Circle + Q&A Zoom at the end of the course, where we’ll reflect, share insights, and celebrate what’s taken root. This call will be recorded and available to all students.

  • Ongoing access to Monthly Stitching Circles—live, contemplative gatherings each month. An opportunity to stay engaged with fellow slow stitchers!

  • Ongoing access to the Private Community Group within the classroom. A place to share your work and experiences, ask questions and connect.

What if I enroll after the initial launch?

Students who enroll after the initial launch will:

  • Receive the same course content

  • Be invited to the Monthly Stitching Circles.

  • Have access to the recorded Closing Circle & Q&A

  • Are included in the Private Community Group within the classroom.

Do I need to be an experienced stitcher?

Not at all. Garden Threads is about slowing down, not stitching perfectly. If you can thread a needle, you have everything you need. If you're new to stitching, you’ll find a materials list and a video how-to on stitching inside the course to help you get started with ease.

What materials do I need?

You'll need just a few basic supplies to get started:

  • a few cotton or linen pieces, anywhere from 4 x 6 to 12 x 12 inches for the foundation

  • fabric scraps in colors that represent your garden or the landscape around you

  • a needle

  • embroidery thread in colors associated with your garden

  • a few other basic supplies like scissors, straight pins and a pencil

Is this course religious?

This course draws from my research in Christian spirituality, but this retreat respects you and your values..

Many participants are women looking for a more spacious way of connecting with their souls and what they consider God/Divine Presence. The reflections and prompts are meant to invite your own deepening.

What if I fall behind?

Garden Threads is self-paced. Once you enroll, the course materials are yours to revisit anytime. There’s no such thing as falling behind.

If you miss a live Stitching Circle, you can still listen to the audio reflection for that lesson, and you’ll continue to be invited to the Monthly Stitching Circles.

What happens after I finish the lessons?

You’ll continue to have access to all course materials. Many participants return to the lessons and prompts as seasons shift.

You’ll also be invited to our ongoing Monthly Stitching Circles—live Zoom gatherings offered to stay connected and encouraged.

You’ll be notified of new course offerings from me as they become available.

How long do I have access to this course?

All lessons are downloadable. It is advisable to download the ones you want to keep. Life is uncertain so I don't want to promise you will have "forever" access.
